MD Consult Internet Services Offers Preview

MD Consult, a new physicians-only Internet service, has announced that its preview Web site is open for browsing at http://www.mdconsult.com. According to the company, the Web site discloses the vast array of clinical content that will be available to physicians within the "Clinical Library" section of this continuously updated, content-rich service.

Dozens of the world's most respected medical publishers and societies have joined together to provide a diverse range of content for the service. At launch, over 30 reference books and 20 journals spanning 22 specialty areas of medicine will be online for comprehensive searches. MD Consult will continuously update material as subsequent issues become available and will add content as new licensing contracts are signed.

Nearly all of the reference books and journals that comprise MD Consult's Clinical Library appear on the BrandonHill list-a highly respected list that guides medical libraries on what journals and books they need. In addition, MD Consult will employ the latest Internet push technology. Once the service is launched, physicians will receive daily clinical information tailored to their individual specialty area without conducting a search query.

"We are pleased at the response we have received from the medical publishing community and medical societies," said Jerry Freeland, president of MD Consult. "Before MD Consult, physicians and the medical community could not search and retrieve comprehensive clinical information from one Internet site. Now, we have the content and the technology to provide a service that meets the growing demand for quick and easy online access to the finest medical informarion and services, available 24 hours a day, every day."

At launch, MD Consult will draw content from the following publishers and medical societies, with plans for ongoing expansion, both in reach and depth: Publishers:
