Trading Places Chicago-based Peregrine Financial Group Inc. has a new task and a distinct man for the job. Michael Killian joined the company in mid-November as senior vice president of the broker-dealer division.
"This is a very exciting time because what security futures are believed to be going to do is bridge the gap between the derivatives world and the stocks world," Killian says.
Killian says PFG has set itself up to be an education broker and it's his duty to build the broker dealer relationship side of PFG that involves establishing alliances in the United States and overseas with regional and sub-regional broker dealers and futures commission merchants (FCM). According to Killian, those broker dealers are either in the securities side looking to the futures side for incremental value they can bring to their clients, or they're on the FCM side and would like to have some of the opportunities that the securities world offers.
"It's a very exciting new dimension for investors," Killian says. "They now have more tools to manage risk."
Killian has 27 years of experience in investment and trading, including combat duty at Barings Japan. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago in Finance and Human Behavior.
