The list of honorées entering the Variety Home Entertainment Hall of Fame this year clearly reflects the growth of digital distribution and its increasing importance to Hollywood. It includes two veteran execs responsible for negotiating key movie output deals in the digital space and marketing those products and programs to consumers; a long-established physical retailer that's just launched an aggressively marketed new digital movie service; the country's leading pay TV provider, as it launches digital movies for sale; and an iconic director whose most recent movie has been a top title on digital formats this year. These honorées will be feted with a cocktail reception, gala dinner and awards program Dec. 10 at the Beverly Wilshire hotel, benefiting City Year. -Marcy Magier a

Marinelli leads in-home global distribution for Disney Studios across a spectrum of physical and digital platforms, including Blu-ray/DVD, electronic home video license, video-on-demand, subscription video-on-demand, pay television, cable, broadcast television, online and other digital technologies. She also oversees content distribution for the Disney-ABC Television Croup portfolio in North America, licensing firstrun and off-network content from ABC Studios, ABC Entertainment, ABC Family and Disney Channel across multiple outlets. MacPherson heads the Walt Disney Studios team responsible for the creation of consumerfacing products and programs that drive content ownership and expand the studio's portfolio of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilmand DreamWorks brands, franchises and characters across distribution platforms.

Writer, director, producer

Tarantino took home the original screenplay Oscar for 2012's "Django Unchained," which has become one of 2013's top Blu-ray and Digital HD titles. He also won an Academy Award for the screenplay of his modern classic, 1994's "Pulp Fiction." As a result of being both critical and cult favorites, his films - including "Reservoir Dogs," "Jackie Brown," "Kill Bill: Vol. 1," "Kill Bill: Vol. 2" and "Inglourious Basterds" - are perennial strong performers in the home entertainment arena and have generated more than $850 million in DVD and Blu-ray rentals and sales in the U.S., according to Rentrak.
