CBI Gets Maha Sanction to Prosecute Two IAS Officers in Adarsh Scam
New Delhi, April 10 -- The CBI on Wednesday confirmed it has received Maharashtra government's sanction to prosecute two suspended IAS officers, Pradeep Vyas and J Phatak who were chargesheeted in the multicrore Adarsh housing scam in July 2012, after HT first reported on Saturday about the agency's reminder to the state seeking to expedite its sanction request.
"We have received the Maharashtra gover nment's sanctions to prosecute suspended IAS officials Pradeep Vyas and Jayraj Phatak in the Adarsh housing scam. Our request for the sanction was pending for around 20 months," said a CBI source. The source said, "We will inform the trial court about the development so that the proceedings may begin."
Vyas was accused of accepting false documents as proof of income, while Phatak was accused of illegally regularising the additional floors of the society.
Referring to the HT report 'CBI sends reminder to Maharashtra government', former Central Information Commissioner Shailesh Gandhi had also sought from the state disciplinary action against officials for the alleged delay. …
