Columbine is not forgotten. It serves as an icon of memory for the families who lost children during a violent morning one year ago. It serves as a reminder to all of us that loss is a broader concept than loss of a loved child through death.
All of us lost a sense of innocence that morning. Each of us lost a sense of belief that school classrooms and libraries are safe simply because they are a place of learning. Our nation lost that morning ... we lost youth who were our future.

Two brothers who survived the Columbine High School shooting, Jonathan and Stephen Cohen, sang a song during Sunday's memorial service in Littleton. The brothers said proceeds from sales of their CD are going to the victims' families.
