(NAFTA-Cda-Dairy)

The head of the Dairy Farmers of Ontario says the U-S should join the Trans-Pacific Partnership if it wants increased access to Canada.

Graham Lloyd says giving the Americans any more access to Canada won't solve massive overproduction but would cause serious harm to the Canadian dairy farmer.

He says Canada should have recalibrated the amount of foreign access permitted under T-P-P when President Donald Trump withdrew from the trade deal.

(TPP-Reaction)

Farm groups across Canada are applauding the progress being made on a new Trans-Pacific Partnership.

The Canola Council of Canada says eliminating tariffs and establishing more effective rules to prevent trade barriers will help the industry.

Spokesman Gary Stordy says pork producers should have a level of comfort knowing their product has an opportunity to reach new markets like Vietnam and existing markets like Japan.

The 11 nations will begin working on an agreement in principle that should be ready to sign in March. (The Canadian Press, CFCW)

The deal gives Alberta-based Aurora the cannabis producer with the longest track record in the industry.

Saskatchewan-based CanniMed's predecessor was the sole supplier to Health Canada before the current medical marijuana licensing policy was established.

CanniMed has also demonstrated success in developing value-added products. (The Canadian Press)
