SHELDON APPLETON is Professor of Political Science and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Oakland University in Michigan, and has also taught at the Universities of Minnesota and Hawaii. He has written books on U.S. China policy and on U.S. foreign policy and is studying public perceptions of U.S. presidents since World War II.
MAURINE BEASLEY is associate professor of journalism at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is a former staff writer for The Washington Post and holds a Ph.D. in American civilization from the George Washington University. Her research specialty is the history of women in the media. She is the editor of The White House Press Conferences of Eleanor Roosevelt.
CLARK M. CLIFFORD is senior partner of the law firm of Clifford & Warnke in Washington, D.C. He served as White House Counsel in the Truman Administration, and as Secretary of Defense in the Lyndon Johnson Administration.
MARGARET TRUMAN DANIEL has written extensively about her father, including the best-selling Harry S. Truman. Her most recent book is the story of her mother, Bess W. Truman. She also writes the kind of murder stories her mother loved so much. She lives with her family in New York City.
GEORGE DE JR. VRIES is Professor of History and Head of the History Department at Northwestern College at Orange City, Iowa. He has particular interests in American religious history and in twentieth century U.S. history. He has published numerous articles in both historical and religious publications.
