CHAPTER IV

Results
PROFESSIONAL employees and managers in the Nampa Center completed two sets of questionnaires: the first before the implementation of the new organization structure and the second after 15 months of experience with the plan. [See Appendix A] Responses to the questionnaires provided the largest block of data for purposes of analyzing the effects of the change. A second body of data developed from interviews and the study of records over a three-year period following the introduction of the plan.The data, which will be presented in detail in this chapter, show these results:
1. Men in the experimental departments were more likely to report increases in work involvement and personal productivity than were their counterparts in comparative departments.
2. There was, however, no overall shift in the number of men in either the experimental or comparative departments who were satisfied with the effectiveness of the Center in performing its task.
3. The technical changes in authority structure altered the interaction and influence patterns in the experimental departments, in turn producing further changes in authority.
4. Within the experimental departments, respondents who experienced an increase in authority evaluated the effects of the program more positively than those who experienced a reduction or no change.
5. Regardless of the degree to which individuals had gained or lost authority, Managers as a whole were in favor of a halt to the changes, or at least a reduced rate of change,
