need more intuitive user interfaces. Finally, practitioners need more flexible statistical methods that are easier to understand and use when observations must be limited.
The common connection between these five basic needs is the schism that has developed between proponents of visual and statistical analysis models. The advancement of science is more likely when persons holding opposing views of reality drink from the pierian1 spring together. We hope this book is a step in that direction, but success will depend on the creativity and industriousness of future investigators.
