PETER SPYERS-DURAN has an M.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate Library School and an Ed.D. from Nova University. He is Director of Libraries, Wayne State University in Detroit. Formerly the Executive Director, California State University Library and Learning Resources, Long Beach, he has consulted and taught library science and is a former President, University of Chicago Graduate Library School Alumni Association. In the past 17 years, he has made numerous contributions as an author or editor to the literature of collection development and library management. He is an active member of ALA. In addition, Spyers-Duran is a Standing Committee member, International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions' Section on University Libraries and Other General Research Libraries.
THOMAS WILLIAM MANN, JR., received his M.A. in History and the M.S. in Library Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana. Currently on the professional management consulting staff of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. in San Francisco, he formerly served as Director of Administrative Services of the University Library and Learning Resources at California State University, Long Beach.
