GEORGE H. HODOS was born in Hungary. He spent the war years in Switzerland in emigration and while there joined the communist party. He began his studies at the University of Zurich and conchided them at the University of Budapest, after returning to Hungary in 1945. He was arrested in 1949 in the show trial of Rajk, released and rehabilitated in 1954. After the suppression of the Hungarian revolution he emigrated first to Austria, then, in 1969, to the United States. In Hungary, he worked as a journalist and as an editor of EnglishAmerican literature in a publishing house. In Austria and in the United States, his contributions and essays were published in Austrian, German, Swiss and American newspapers, periodicals and journals.
