ABOUT THE CONTRIBUTORS
ALBERT A. BARTLETT is Professor Emeritus of Physics at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Although active in scientific research (he began his career at Los Alamos during World War II), his greatest love has been teaching, for which he received national recognition in 1981 when the American Association of Physics Teachers honored him with the Robert A. Millikan Award. For the past dozen years he has devoted himself to alerting the public to the obvious--yet utterly ignored--consequences of exponential growth.
ERNEST L. BOYER is President of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. His eclectic career spans virtually every discipline and every role in education, including faculty member, dean, chancellor of the State University of New York (the nation's largest), and U.S. Commissioner of Education. In addition to holding nearly one hundred honorary degrees, he has received international recognition as an educator, and is widely known for such books as High School and College: The Undergraduate Experience.
GEORGE BUGLIARELLO is President of Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, New York. An engineer by training, his scientific career has spanned civil engineering, biomedical engineering, fluid mechanics, and computer languages. He has acquired both national and international recognition as an educator and consultant in the area of technology as it affects society, development, and public policy, and is well-known as an advocate and interpreter of the role of science and technology in human affairs.
