Without a doubt, support for affirmative action, multiculturalism, "educating for diversity," etc., is being incorporated directly into the "qualifications" for academic positions; critics of these issues are thereby automatically "disqualified" from further consideration.

California State University at Fresno is "seeking to enhance its ability to serve a large and ethnically diverse region and student body by facilitating the application and appointment of qualified, underrepresented minority and women faculty in all academic disciplines." The copy adds that the Faculty Diversity Program and the positions for it supplement the university's normal searches and affirmative action commitments.
