RENNI S. ALTMAN is the associate rabbi of Temple Beth-El in Great Neck, New York. She was formerly the Director of Programs for the Unaffiliated at the Union of American Hebrew Congregations where she developed programs to help Reform congregations reach out to and involve more members. She was ordained from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York.
STEVEN E. FOSTER is senior rabbi of Congregation Emanuel in Denver, Colorado and the co-chairperson of the Union of American Hebrew Congregation's Task Force on the Unaffiliated. He received his M.A. in Hebrew letters, his rabbinical ordination from Hebrew Union College ( Cincinnati), and his Doctor of Ministries from the Iliff School of Theology ( Denver). He has served as board member and officer of a number of community and religious organizations including the Colorado State Civil Rights Commission and the Denver Area Interfaith Clergy Conference.
C. KIRK HADAWAY is secretary for research and evaluation at the United Church Board for Homeland Ministries (United Church of Christ). Previously, he held research positions with the Sunday School Board, the Center for Urban Church Studies, and the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. He received his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst). He has published numerous articles and books on congregational affiliation and church growth.
DEAN R. HOGE is professor of sociology at the Catholic University of America. He received his B.D. degree from Harvard Divinity School and
