Nowhere in the scenario of western womanhood does one find the woman criminal. References to prostitutes--the petty criminals of everyone's society--abound in the West, yet a fully-developed definition of criminal women seems somehow out of place in the American West. What laws, after all, would they have broken? Where and how, in the masculine West would they have been punished?
Women criminals comprised an element of western womanhood. Some women compiled a long list of arrests for minor crimes.
