Jesus, Pilatus, Cayphas, Anna, sex milites tenentes hastas
cure vexillis, et atii quatuor ducentes Jesum ab Herode,

PILATE¶Lordings, that are limited to the law of my alliance,
Ye shapely soldiers all shining to show,
I charge you as your chieftain that ye chat for no chance,
But look to your lord here and learn at my law.

Many bold bairns are about me;

Therefore, my lusty lads within this land lapped,
Stint now stepping softly and stoutly be bearing.
The traitor with tales who his tongue has trapped,
That fiend for his flattery full foul shall be falling.
What brat over broadly is brawling,
Or unsoftly will say in these halls,
That caitiff thus crying and calling,
As a boy shall be brought into bales.
Talk not nor treat not of tales.
