ONE must study a genius in his deeds. In them alone can one find what made him of worldwide importance. Therefore we will hasten forward to the great dramas that Schiller wrote during his youth. Of all that has been handed down to us regarding Schiller's boyhood and youth, regarding the earliest impressions that surrounded him, regarding the earliest bent that he received, we will briefly mention only what may help us to understand the spirit of the young poet in his works.
