How can project management be implemented with a minimum amount of trauma and organizational conflict?
Put yourself in the position of a manager of an organization that has decided that project management is the answer to some of its problems. The suggestion to use project management may come from any level of management; it might be limited to a single department or it might involve participation by the whole company or organization. For instance, a research department could implement project management in its own organization without involving the rest of the company. The decision to implement project management and the process of selling it to the organization are totally in the hands of the research director. The research director has the choice of pure project or matrix organizational forms and can experiment with variations to determine what works best in her or his organizational climate.
