On the passage from, " Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit," up to the point where it says, "And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him."

When he was being tempted by the devil, since he was still to struggle against him, the word "spirit" is put down twice without any qualification. But, when he has fought and overcome the three temptations that Scripture mentions, then see what is written of the Spirit, emphatically and carefully. The passage says, " Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit." "Power" has been added, because he had trodden down the dragon and conquered the tempter in hand- to-hand combat. So "Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to the land of Galilee, and reports about him went out to the whole surrounding region. And he was teaching in their synagogues, and was glorified by all."2.

If the Scriptures are true, then the Lord speaks not only there, in the congregations of the Jews, but today too, in this congregation. And Jesus teaches not only in this congregation, but in other gatherings, and in the whole world. He seeks instruments through whom he can teach.
