Calvin is forty-six, originally from Virginia, and has been pursuing acting for twenty-five years. He graduated from William and Mary and continued with graduate work at George Mason University. He studied voice with Dr. Wilbert King, Anne Rowe, and Frederick Wilkerson. Calvin is best remembered as The Beadle in the national tour and award-winning television production of Sweeney Todd with Angela Lansbury. He also starred in the national tour of Cats, and portrayed Firmin, the crotchety opera-house manager opposite Michael Crawford, Robert Guillaume, and Davis Gaines in the record-breaking Los Angeles engagement of The Phantom of the Opera. He also played the Padre in Long Beach Civic Light Opera's Man of La Mancha. He has appeared in numerous films and television shows, including Pretty Woman, The Water Engine, Cheers, Nurses, The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, and Twilight of the Golds. Calvin is also the musical theatre director of the California State Summer School of the Arts, maintains an active private studio in voice and is currently preparing a book entitled Voice for the Theatre.
