I had been pursuing a career in the recording field and it never took off. So, for a change of pace and my own sanity, I decided to do something else. That took me to musical theatre five years ago, and it's been a successful five years.
I was able to make a living doing what I love to do, which is singing. I sang with my own band in various nightclubs and at weddings. I wasn't in the best scenarios at times, but at least I got to keep my voice up and strengthen it. A lot of actors, dancers, and singers work the front of the houses in Broadway theatres. They usher, or work the box office, and bounce around from theatre to theatre. In fact, two of our ushers for Rent got roles in the Boston production.
