The success of the ninth West Virginia University Conference on Life-Span Developmental Psychology was facilitated by many persons. Thomas J. Knight, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, helped in providing university funds. Kathleen A. McCluskey, Chair of the Department of Psychology, generously provided departmental funds and resources and was involved in the early planning stages. Carrie M. Koeturius, Manager of the West Virginia University Conference Services, skillfully managed the production details of the conference. E. Gordon Gee, President of West Virginia University, warmly welcomed the conference participants. Special thanks are due the graduate students in developmental psychology at West Virginia University, who worked with the co-chairs from the beginning of the planning to well past the end of the conference: Carolyn Adams, Donna Barre, Joan Beard, Jodene Brooks, Jeffrey Coldren, Nancy Meck, Rosellen Rosich, and Pamela Kochanevich-Wallace. Our secretaries, Ann Davis and Michelle Nichols, devoted much skill and many hours to every phase of the project, and we gratefully acknowledge their assistance.
