Implementation of new a IT-system can make the employees in companies stressed ( Turnage, Cornelius and Sansing 1994). Stress can lead to several physiological, psychological and behavioural consequences for the employees ( Eisenberg and Goodall 1993; Smither 1994; Zaleznik, Vries and Howard 1997). These problems can again have serious consequences for the companies. Studies on how to make the IT-changes easier are therefore important for both employees and companies. In this article we have focused on IT-quality1 and the effect it has on the employees' ability to cope.
Elderly employees seem to have bigger problems with IT-changes than younger employees do ( Stammers et al. 1991; Lindström et al. 1989). We will look at how the differences can be explained by IT-quality.
The results in this article have come from a survey and focus groups.
A questionnaire was worked out on the basis of a pre-project. Data from 649 individuals (34% women and 66% men, overall age 41 years) was tested. The questionnaire contained questions regarding:____________________
