Retrace button retraces the user's path through the guidelines. Two navigation functions, Search and Index, enable the user to find specific guidance of interest. Search can be applied to any combination of guideline names, guideline text, additional information fields, and comment fields for any term specified. Index displays instances of the selected term in context. Clicking on a line of text brings the reviewer to the guideline in which the text string appears.
A Help feature is available within every window of the DRG providing on-line assistance for performing a desired function. The help was developed in standard windows help format.
The Report function lists the number of guidelines currently evaluated as OK, Discrepancy,Not Applicable,Incomplete (i.e., not yet evaluated), or marked Return for later review. Any or all of these evaluation categories can be included in the report. The numbers and titles of the guidelines, along with any comments entered by the user, can be viewed. The report can be printed, or saved as a generic text file for importing into word processing software.
The DRG was developed to support users in evaluating HSIs using technically valid HFE guidelines. The software has been used for a couple of years. We have received very positive feedback from users, and several organizations have asked to use the software to present their own guidance for different purposes. We are currently conducting an evaluation of the guidance, including the software, in order to identify problems and obtain recommendations for new features and functions. These modifications will be made in the near future when the next version of the software will be released.
