The college campus is believed to be an ivory tower, a haven in the midst of a grubby world. But once one looks beneath appearances and glimpses some of its darker realities, perceptions of the campus are forever altered. Replying anonymously to a question about sexual harassment, a sophomore provided an example of the darker side of academic life:
Well, my freshman year I took a class. I didn't understand all of the readings, and by the time the final came around I found myself with an F. So I asked him if I could talk to him about grades in his office. So I went to his office and he gave me a choice -- either be with him or take the F. I was attracted to him a little, but there was no way I could take the F. So I met him at his house, and I spent three hours with him in his bed.
