The case studies in chapters 8 through 17 did not include rationales for why they were selected for this book. Nor did they contain literature review sections that would serve to ground the respective organization and service in the key issues in the field of correctional supervision. The reader was spared this content to maximize the readability of the studies. However, some readers would like more thorough grounding in the context of the cases. Thus, this appendix is intended to address the needs of readers who want, or need, as the situation may be, more details and context. The organization of the following material is rather simple—for each case study there is (1) the rationale for its selection and (2) an overview of relevant literature.
